| Dove prisms are used as image rotators in variety of optic-mechanical
system. As the prism is rotated, the image passing through will rotate at
twice the angular rate of the prism. Light entering the dove prism must be
parallel or collimated, because the length of the
prism is four or five times the height of the prism. The hypotenuse face of
a dove prism is the face of the largest area. Normally the dove prism is used
in the total internal reflection mode, with the hypotenuse face un-aluminized.
Cleanliness of this face is important. |
